People often referred to as petite women are ladies who stand 5’4” and under. If you belong to this group, you probably agree that finding the perfect size and fit seems impossible. When it comes to scrubs, it’s no different. We hope these helpful tips will help you find the perfect fit.
Get your measurements. Using a measuring tape, record your measurements including height, bust, hips, and inseam. If you're not a seamstress, this may seem like a difficult task, but there are lots of helpful diagrams on google to help you. Usually, the bust measurement for a petite is 34 inches and below, natural waist could be 26.5 inches or less, sleeves are 30 inches or less, and hips could be 36.5 inches or below. If this still seems overwhelming, read up on how to take measurements for women.
Finding the right fit. Once you have your measurements, you're ready to start shopping. You can take these measurements and compare them to size charts on many of the online scrub retailers. Find the size that matches most closely with the size of your body, and start there. It can be hard since you can't try on when shopping online, but most online retailers have easy and convenient return policies.
Picking the right style. Consider a jogger or a slim fit style pant. These tend to be a bit shorter, and the length can be easily adjusted. With joggers, you can pull the ankle cuff a bit higher to shorten the pant, and if there is a little extra fabric on the slim fit pant, it will lay on top of your shoes instead of pooling on the ground. Slimmer fitting scrubs can also make you look longer and a bit taller.
Petit scrubs. If you're buying petit scrubs, it is important to note that they will usually have shorter inseams and higher hemlines. Look out for brands that make petit, as these can be more flattering and have a better fit without looking too baggy or tight.
Alterations. If you still cant find the perfect fit, you can always have your scrubs altered to fit perfectly. If this is the route you choose, it is still important to buy the correct size. If you find the petit version is just a bit too short, small, or tight, opt for the regular fit instead. A seamstress can always take fabric away, so you're better off buying something a bit bigger and having it taken in.
Always remember, every brands scrubs fit a bit differently, and you may not need a petit fit in some brands. The best way to tell this when you're online shopping and cant try on is by using the size chart.
